Delightful Daisies!

The pretty petals of the Daisy are just delightful don’t you agree?

DSC02790

I mean, what other flower let’s you pluck them one by one to find out whether or not that special someone loves you?

DSC02789
They’re especially delightful when you finish a quilt that you have had the fabric for 7 years.

Don’t ask me why after 7 years I finally decided to get this quilt made.  Guess there’s something to be said about the 7 year itch. lol!

DSC02783
I must say, it’s a fabulous feeling to have this one behind me.  I’ve never cut so many 1 1/2 inch strips only to sew them together again and cut them back into 1 1/2 inch strips. You quilters know what I am talking about.

DSC02784
I picked this quilt up at the quilters just before I left for my Napa Valley vacation.  My cousins, Aunt Hazel loves to bind quilts.  I decided to take it to her and knew that she would have it ready when I returned home.  Now mind you, she is 90 years old.  I took it to her on a Friday afternoon.  The next morning we were on the road heading to Reno for the first night. She called and had it finished.  My, this is no small quilt.  Our bed is King size.  What an amazing lady!

I started to make two pillow shams but decided I liked just one tucked between my two red euros.

I knew that this quilt would look nice with my yellow painted wall. A much prettier color than it looks in the photo.  But oh my gosh, look how the colors match my canvas print hanging above the bed.  Not Daisies, Poppies; still the colors are perfect!

The quilter quilted it with a pretty rambling Daisy and leaf pattern in gold thread.

Of course I had to pick some Daisies to put by the bedside.

It makes a lovely summer time spread.  And guess what?  He loves me!!

Celebrating 42 years of wedded bliss today!

Hope yours loves you too!

Jann, how wonderful that you finished this quilt. I admit, I'm guilty of letting projects sit for years too. It does feel good when one gets back to it and completes the project. Your quilt is lovely, and I especially like the "Good Morning" red work pillow. Did you stitch it?
Love the daisy bouquet too!
Happy Monday, my friend!

I have long had the [back burner] goal of "one day" making a quilt. It has not happened! I bought one-almost 100 yrs old in great condition. I shall enjoy it..btw I use it too..not for display only.

Jann, I love your quilt. I truly admire people who can quilt. My Aunt Helen made quilts all by hand. Ted's mother did too. What wonderful talent it takes. Blessings on all those happy years of wedded bliss. xoxo,Susie

Hi Jann,
I just love the way you tell a story in your posts...all the way to the fabulous ending (of your anniversary)...Hope you are having a wonderful day with your hubby. Enjoy that beautiful quilt. I happen to have a beautiful appliqued "Red Poppies" quilt that my aunt gave me...she made it with her church ladies quilting circle in 1963. It would look good with your painting!

I am enjoying my visit, and love your quilt of colours, red, yellow and the mix of whites and woods. It such a farm house feel yet crosses over with a bit of French flavor with all your country tones. I have recently added a touch of yellow, very faded yellow so as to blend with my tone of muted whites and grey's and the whites.
I love the grain sack muslin feel to your accents and this also tugs in the direction of a cozy wonderful farmhouse feel.

I am the one who created the Number 4 for. Jeanette using vintage solid mahogany and 40 year old zinc plates nailed with zinc nails. I read that you wanted to make a 7, I also have a 7 in my etsy shop as well as a number 2. They were used in Fifi O'Neills new book Prairie Style Weddings, the numbers stage a wedding as French address numbers and used as table markers.
I thought I would let you know that my ready to hang numbers are in my etsy with just a couple left, besides my N0. 7 on my wall

Thank you for your share
Will see you soon, now I am going back to visit some of your older postings.

What a lovely quilt, your bedroom just looks so happy to me! What quilt pattern is this (I'm new to quilting, but trying to learn :-) I have scads of bluebonnet fabric that I want to do 'something' with, and I think it would work similarly to your daisy fabric.
